Transportation Update Ahead of Oct. 2 Reopening: 2:30 p.m. Oct. 1
As we prepare to reopen schools tomorrow, we wanted to update you on transportation services and our ongoing support efforts in response to Hurricane Helene.
Due to ongoing road closures, bus transportation may be limited in certain areas.
If your child's bus stop is impacted by ongoing road closures, please call our Transportation Department at 912-267-4120 to find the nearest available bus stop.
Despite these challenges, we remain committed to safely reopening our schools. If your family is facing any difficulties due to the hurricane, please reach out to your child's school for assistance.

Hurricane Helene Update #4: 3:15 p.m. Sept. 30
We are providing an update on our recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene. After careful assessment of all schools, we plan to safely resume school operations on Wednesday, Oct. 2. Water and power have been restored to all schools in the district, and we have ensured that the water is safe for consumption.
Despite delays in food deliveries, breakfast and lunch will be available to all students for the remainder of the week. Our dedicated staff will return to their respective schools on Tuesday, Oct. 1 to prepare for the safe return of our students.
We understand that some families may still be dealing with the aftermath of the hurricane, and we will work closely with students and families to provide any additional support needed during this time.
We would like to thank our local utility crews and district staff who worked tirelessly to restore essential services to our schools. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we navigated the challenges presented by Hurricane Helene.

Hurricane Helene Update #3: 6:15 p.m. Sept. 28
In response to the ongoing challenges caused by Hurricane Helene, we have carefully assessed the condition of our schools and the impact on our community. Due to storm-related damage, widespread power and water outages, and delays in food deliveries, Glynn County Schools will remain closed on Monday, September 30.
Essential employees will be contacted by an administrator or supervisor by Sunday, September 29, regarding their return to work.
We are making every effort to resume normal operations on Tuesday, October 1. We appreciate your understanding as we work diligently to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families.

Hurricane Helene Update #2: 2:45 p.m. Sept. 26
Due to the severe weather threat posed by Hurricane Helene, including potential high winds, power outages, tornadoes, and road closures, all Glynn County Schools sites will remain closed on Friday, September 27.
This decision follows a strong recommendation from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency, allowing time for the storm to pass and for school officials to assess any weather-related damage to buildings.
Schools will reopen on Monday, September 30.
Updates will be communicated through ParentSquare, our district website, Facebook page, and media partners. Please stay informed with updates from the Glynn County Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service in Jacksonville.
Out of an abundance of caution, Glynn County Schools will be closed on Thursday. This decision was made to ensure that our students, staff, and families are safely off the roads when the storm is likely to be at its strongest.
School will resume as normal on Friday, Sept. 27.
